Chelsea Power Station
The Chelsea Power Station was located on the River Thames in Chelsea, London, the power station supplied electricity to the London Underground system. It is sometimes, incorrectly, referred to as Fulham Power Station.
Client: JRL Group (Midgard) | Project Value: £75 million | Role: Site Management & Project Management | Duration: January 2021 – March 2022
The scope of the project was to modernise, whilst having the build remain in-keeping with the surroundings. The client also wanted to have some of the original look of the power station as it is a prominent feature on the harbour. This was one of the more challenging sites that Whites Construction Management have managed, with several external trades involved including local conservationists. The project is comprised of two glass residential towers of 25 and 37 stories.
Our team carried out the management of two sectors in the projects brickwork package. They appointed and managed the subcontractors for the entirety of the project. Due to the external demolition and façade installation within the arches on the river side, this project was more complicated than others that Whites has managed. There were many design changes throughout the lifespan of the project as most of the original drawings and designs were preliminary.
The final look of the project is striking against the background of the harbour.
